Why Serve?

We are all sent out in our daily lives to be the fragrance of Christ, a sweet perfume to those around us (2 Corinthians 2:15). We are the hands and feet of Jesus, carrying his life and light into the darkness of the world around us. We want to serve our community, build relationships, meet and work and share together, and to contribute to making the town we live in a more beautiful place for others to live. As we bless our communities, others will be touched by the love of God and we can win permission to share the wonderful good news of Jesus with them.

Bless Your Community

Jeremiah encouraged the people of Israel exiled in Babylon to “seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you... and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare” (Jeremiah 29:7). When our community experiences this full peace, then we experience it as well. Roy Godwin in his book “the WAY of BLESSING” says “Stop for a moment and think what these words might mean for your home, your street or your town. Think how they expand our vision for mission beyond verbal persuasion.” Jesus taught his disciples to declare Peace over the places they went into, over the homes they visited (Luke 10:5-6).
